Pretty much the only live table game allowed in MN/WI is black jack. No roullette, no craps, no carnival games. Just slots, VP, BJ. Something to do with games of skill vs games of chance.

To get craps in you have to go to Wisconsin. There is also poker at the racetracks here, Canterbury Park to the south and Running Aces to the north. I believe each is about 30 mins from downtown mpls.

Not quite correct. Canterbury Park and Treasure Island over in Red Wing have carnival games. However, they are called 'Player Banked Games' or something to that effect...the house can't make (much, I think) profit on them. In the past, Treasure Island would charge a 50ยข-$1 vig (based on your bet amount) to play each hand. This money went into a 'pool'. Let's say they collected $120,000 in this pool in September. TI would then give that money back to the players the next month in the form of promotions, etc.
Last time I was at Canterbury, the dealer said there's some convoluted system on your buy-ins where the house only can take a certain catch. They also had changed the games to progressive versions of everything they had.

There's craps in WI. Roulette, too. Just ask Ken...;-)
Mystic Lake is my home casino. It's very nice, but all they have is blackjack. Other large MN casinos offer other games like let it ride and 3 card poker(Grand Casino in Hinckley and Mille Lacs, Jackpot Junction in Morton, Treasure Island in Red Wing). Treasure island runs a player pool on all of their carnival games, and they post a sign with the approximate size of the player pool. I think the other casinos do as well.
The MN card clubs (Canterbury, Running Aces) have slightly different rules. The player pool there banks the progressive jackpots on the carnival games (and all smaller payouts as well). MN must be home to some superstitious fools, because the progressive jackpots receive frequent play, even at low levels. That is very nice for me, since I only play when they swing the game's expectation to be net-positive.Turtle lake casino 3 card poker progressive videos
